How much memory is required for a mode superposition harmonic analysis?

In Release 8.1 the memory that ANSYS requires for a mode superposition analysis is based on the number of degrees of freedom and the number of requested modes. The memory required can be estimated from the following formula:

Memory required in GB = (number of DOFs) * (number of modes) * (8 bytes/double precision number /1024^3 bytes/GB)

Thus, a model with 100,000 DOFs and 1000 requested modes would require approximately 0.75 GB.

Note: some additional memory will be required above the amount estimated by the above formula, so this estimate should be considered a lower bound.
