The following errors may occur during installation:

###### Error #######
couldn't execute "C:Program FilesANSYS Incv120commonfilestoolswinx64 Ans.Deployment.Config.Common.exe": permission denied>>>--------------------------------------->

or

couldn't execute "C:Program FilesANSYS Incv121commonfilestoolswinx64 Ans.Deployment.Config.Common.exe": permission denied>>>--------------------------------------->

Resolution:

Some computers running anti-virus software may have problems with multiple dots in executable names such as Ans.Deployment.Config.Common.exe. These problems will be reported in the installation error log file C:Program FilesAnsys Incinstall.err.

Renaming

"C:ProgramFilesANSYS Incv12[0 or 1]commonfilestoolswinx64Ans.Deployment.Config.Common.exe"

to

AnsDeploymentConfigCommon.exe

normally resolves the problem.

After removing the first four dots, re-run the AnsDeploymentConfigCommon.exe from the same directory. C:Program FilesAnsys Incv140commonfilestoolswinx64. The configuration steps will then be completed.

Alternatively, and if your IT policies allow, you can turn off anti-virus programs prior to starting the ANSYS installation. The installation will run normally, and the anti-virus program can be turned back on afterward.

This problem was eliminated in ANSYS R13.0 onward by renaming the offending file.
