MPICH solver for CFX fails in distributed parallel mode on Redhat 6.1

SYMPTOM: If the CFX MPICH solver is run in distributed parallel mode using Redhat version 6.1, then it is likely to fail. Messages to the terminal window and to the out file will be similar to the following: Terminal: bash-4.1$ cfx5solve -example StaticMixer -par-dist miltest11,miltest16vm -start-method "MPICH Distributed Parallel" p0_19019: p4_error: semget failed for setnum: 0 An error has occurred in cfx5solve: The ANSYS CFX solver exited with return code 1. No results file has been created. Out File: +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ | An error has occurred in cfx5solve: | | | | The ANSYS CFX solver exited with return code 1. No results file | | has been created. | +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ PROBLEM: This is due to incompatibilities between the implementation of MPICH in the CFX Solver, and the version of Redhat. WORKAROUND: No workaround is currently available. FIXED IN: ANSYS CFX Release 14.5. A custom executable for ANSYS Release 14.0 is available on request. |
