When I attempt to start Ansys Workbench, it produces "Permission Denied" script errors.
The user may also describe the following symptoms:
- Grey screen
- Gray screen
-Blank screen
- Windows Panes appear to be split
- Unable to import or attach any geometry files, even simple models that worked previously.
- Workbench stops responding (locks-up or freezes).




1. In the DM or Simulation Toolbar, Try:
View > Restore Original Window Layout

2. Reset all of the Workbench settings and preferences by renaming the following directory;

Rename the directory:
C:Documents and Settings<user>Application DataAnsysv100
to:
C:Documents and Settings<user>Application DataAnsysv100.old

Note: The "Application Data" directory is normally hidden. Set Windows Explorer to "Show Hidden Files and Folders" to see this directory.


3. Verify that Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) has not been installed on the machine.

Workbench V10.0 is not compatible with Internet Explorer 7.0

Uninstall Internet Explorer 7

4. Verify that the operating systems is not Windows Vista.

Workbench V10.0 is not compatible with Windows Vista.


5. Verify that BOTH Ansys Workbench Products 10.0 and Ansys Workbench Products 10.0 SP1 are NOT installed.

In Windows Control Panel > Add/Remove programs : Look in list of Currently Installed Programs
If both versions are installed, then it is recommended to uninstall both 10.0 and 10.0 SP1, then re-install 10.0 SP1, and then apply 10.0 SP2


6. Verify that Ansys Workbench Products 10.0 SP2 has NOT been installed on top of Ansys Workbench Products 10.0 (SP0)

In Windows Control Panel > Add/Remove programs : Look in list of Currently Installed Programs
If 10.0SP2 has been installed on top of 10.0, then it is recommended to uninstall both 10.0 and 10.0 SP2, then install 10.0 SP1, and then apply 10.0 SP2
