What are the Windows 64-bit parallelization limitations?
(1) With PVM, a 64 bit Windows machine cannot act as a SLAVE. This is a known problem. It can act as a MASTER though. Should be fixed in SP1. (2)With MPICH, a 64 bit machine can be used both as a SLAVE and a MASTER *** Note on (2): All OS( including 64 bit LINUX) uses MPICH-1 whereas Windows 64 bit uses MPICH-2. MPICH-2 does not currently support a mixed OS. That means if a Windows 64 bit machine is used as a SLAVE all other machines (MASTER and other SLAVES) must also be Windows 64 supporting MPICH-2. |
