I am using the Lagrangian Particle Tracking based erosion models in ANSYS CFX, but the erosion rates that I am getting seem unreasonably high.
What could be causing this behavior?

The Finnie and Tabakoff erosion models in CFX both contain a number of adjustable constants. Without reasonable values for the constants, the erosion rates predicted in CFX can be seen as a qualitative or relative measure of the tendency for erosion to occur.

CFX does not maintain a database for Tabokoff and Grant constants for particular particle-wall material pairs, but some representative values should be available in the general literature. The ANSYS CFX documentation describes how the original Tabakoff and Grant model constants are mapped to CFX values.

As far as the Finnie model, the default reference velocity of 1.0 m/s may lead to unrealistically high values for the erosion rate.
The erosion rate scales inversely with the square of the reference velocity. So, the Finnie reference velocity could be treated as an adjustable parameter which can be varied until reasonable values are obtained.
