For the issue that you are having with the meshing in Simulation, you have probably asked the mesher explicitly to drop the midside nodes, and some hex-to-tet-transition pyramids were created in the process. Simulation currently uses the SOLID185 low-order element for structural analysis, which does not support the pyramid shape, so no, it is not possible to force a run with these elements.
The suggested workaround is to mesh with higher-order SOLID186 elements (do not drop midside nodes), which do support the pyramid degenerate shape.
