There is no requirement to run PSDCOM in a separate solution step; they can be done together (as shown in the VM problems) or separately (as shown in Structural Guide section 6.6). The advantage running them separately is that you can verify the PSD solution first, before running the costly combination, although the performance of the mode combination has been greatly improved for v12. Also, if you are only interested in RPSD results, you do not need to do the PSDCOM. |
