What is the conductance of a straight conductor in 2D?


The external inductance of a straight conductor, for which no return path has been modeled, is infinite. Since H never goes to zero, it keeps decreasing proportional to 1/R.

The internal inductance, which is what a textbook would give for a straight conductor (muzeroL/8pi), could be computed in ANSYS from L=2*Energy/I^2. The current, I, applied to the conductor is known, and the energy in the conductor can be retrieved as follows:
