Why is this small piezoelectric harmonic analysis very slow when a CIRCU94 element is added?

This was reported in defect 63164. In the output, there is a message that "pivoting" has been activated. Pivoting is a solver technique used when the matrix is determined to be ill-conditioned, in which very small terms in the matrix are not ignored as usual. It is known to greatly slow down solution. The voltage source option of CIRCU94 requires this, but it was being activated for all types of CIRCU94 elements unnecessarily, even resistors. This has been corrected in 12.0. |
