In ANSYS Release 11.0, is it possible to capture all six rigid-body modes in a free modal analysis of a shell-to-solid models with MPC contact?
Yes. Failure to capture six rigid-body modes is usually caused by artificial internal constraints. The solid-to-shell option for MPC contact should eliminate those artificial constraints. That option is invoked by setting KEYOPT(5)=3 for the target element. In ANSYS Release 11.0, that KEYOPT must be set using a Command Object for each contact pair (KEYOPT,tid,5,3). In Release 12.0, that option is the default setting, so Command Objects should not be required. |
