KNOWN ISSUE: Evaporation of wall film particles at dry wall (Class 3 Error)

SYMPTOM: When using the wall film sub-model of the particle transport model, and the wall is dry, it is possible that particle temperatures may reach unphysically low values, or other non-noticeable solution errors will occur. PROBLEM: This is caused by a bug in the mass transfer routine for wall particles - but only if the wall is dry. In this case the mass transfer coefficient is calculated using the conductivity rather than the dynamic diffusivity (usually some orders of magnitude different). This results in a too large mass transfer for the corresponding wall particles. WORKAROUND: No workaround is currently available. FIXED IN: ANSYS CFX Release 12.1. A custom executable for ANSYS CFX Release 12.0 is available on request. |
