Fluent License Behavior

The FAQ will explain the behavior of FLUENT running under the FLUENTLM and the ANSYSLMD Daemon *Under the FLUENTLM Daemon* 1.The FLUENT heartbeat occurs every 2 minutes. FLUENT will only start complaining if 5 consecutive heartbeats were not successful (10 minutes of license server loss). 2.When a FLUENT job finishes successfully the license is returned immediately. 3.If FLUENT crashes the license is also returned immediately. 4.If the network goes down or FLUENT machine has been unplugged, in such a way that the server has no idea what really happened to FLUENT then the license will be returned after 20 minutes. (2 hours in previous versions). *Under the ANSYS Daemon* 1.The FLUENT heartbeat is a continuous one, so when the server is lost FLUENT will know about it immediately. FLUENT will only start complaining after 10 minutes of a license server loss. It will stop iterating. The user cannot save or do anything else. When the license server comes back, the user can resume iterating. 2.When a FLUENT job finishes successfully the license is returned immediately. 3.If FLUENT crashes the license is also returned immediately. 4.If the network goes down or FLUENT machine has been unplugged, in such a way that the server has no idea what really happened to FLUENT then the license will be returned after 15 minutes. |
