For IC application, Piston Stroke Cutoff will determine where to start layering. To maximize layering region, one would like to use a value as small as possible. On the other hand, too small of a value will cause valve penetration. Then, how to determin the best value?
Fluent IC zone (not mesh) motion preview under Display menu is helpful in that regard. You need to display all valves and the layered piston cell zone or piston internal face zone first. Then IC zone motion preview will quickly show the motion of the dynamic zones. Then you can change the piston stroke cutoff to make the layering happen at the right location.
