What is the allowable number of MFS field interfaces?

In ANSYS Multiphysics Release 11.0, the maximum number MFS field interfaces is 50. Enhancement request 57664 recommends increasing that limit to at least 100.

When I try to start Workbench 11 on a Linux 32-bit RedHat Enterprise 3 platform I get the following in a pop-up:

What is causing this?

It is likely that you still have a pre-release of the version 11 Workbench, ICEM CFD or CFX software installed. Remove any pre-releases and try Workbench again; it should now start with no problems.

Class 3 Error

SYMPTOM:
For turbulent flows using total energy including viscous work, the viscous work double accounts for the contribution of the normal turbulent stress (2/3*rho*k) for two equation models (including EARSM), and fails to remove the isotropic normal stress (2/3*rho*k) for Reynolds stress models.

PROBLEM:
This is due to incorrect coding of the visco

Class 3 Error

SYMPTOM:
The wall shear stress for the solid phase of a fluidized bed modelled as a laminar flow is incorrect when using the kinetic theory model.

PROBLEM:
This is due to omission of the contribution to the stress from the solids shear and bulk

Class 3 Error

SYMPTOM:
The solids shear and bulk viscosity terms in the momentum equations are incorrect when using the kinetic theory model.

PROBLEM:
This is due to the code adding these model terms, which include a volume fraction effect, prior to a generic volume fraction weighting step. This means the terms are too small by a factor of vol

User is attempting to bring seam weld information via two point bar elements directly from ProE into Workbench. Is this capability available?

SYMPTOM:
When running the CFX Solver in PVM distributed parallel mode, and a Windows 64bit machine is used as a slave, the run fails with an error message similar to the following:

+--------------------------------------------------------------------+
An error has occurred in cfx5solve:

The solver executable D:Ansys
Incv110CFXbinwinntsolver-pvm.exe on host twin64 could not be
found, or is not readable. Check that the executable is readable
by the user running the rsh service.
+--------------------------------------------------------------------+

PROBLEM:
There are two problems associated with using Windows 64 machines as slaves in a PVM distributed parallel run.

The first is due to an errror in the machine type returned by the slave machine leading to the above error message. If the platform for the host is not explicitly set in the hosts.ccl file, the slave incorrectly reports the machine type as Windows32 and the job fails as a result. To correct this simply add the relevant details to the hosts.ccl file.

However, even with this correction, subsequent jobs may still fail with the following error message:

+--------------------------------------------------------------------+
An error has occurred in cfx5solve:

Unable to start the PVM daemon on host twin64. This may indicate
that the PVM daemon is already running on that host, or that it
left files in /tmp on that host because it did not exit cleanly
last time it was run.

Class 3 Error

SYMPTOM:
Results may be incorrect when the high resolution advection scheme is used for the Reynolds stress equations.

PROBLEM:
The calculation of "beta" values for the high resolution scheme for the Reynolds stress equations will be incorrect if the high resolution scheme is also activated for the epsilon or omega equation classes. Note that all turbulence equations use the first order upwind advection scheme (regardless of the general advection scheme setting) unless this is explicitly overridden using the Equation Class settings for turbulence, so the defect will only affect cases which have advection scheme settings on an equation

WORKAROUND:<br>Avoid using the high resolution advection scheme for both Reynolds stress and epsilon/omega equations.<br><br>FIXED IN:<br>ANSYS CFX 11.0 Update 1.

Class 3 Error

SYMPTOM:
1D interpolation used to define profile expressions may give incorrect results.

PROBLEM:
When the relevant expression is evaluated, the interpolation algorithm uses a binary search that assumes that the interpolation data has been sorted.

If the 1D data is defined via the User Function panel in CFX-Pre, it will be sorted correctly.
If the 1D data is defined via a profile file, then it will also be sorted correctly.

However, if the User Function CCL was created or edited manually (outside CFX-Pre), then the interpolation data will not be sorted, and interpolation may run and give incorrect answers without report

WORKAROUND:<br>Use CFX-Pre to create User Function data, or ensure that the data is correctly sorted when manually editing the CCL.<br><br>FIXED IN:<br>ANSYS CFX 11.0 Update 1.
