FLUENT 6.3 - Time averaged data at a fixed point in sliding mesh problem
Fixed monitors are needed in cases when the probe position is fixed (e.g. thermocouple, pitot tube) in a domain with moving boundaries. Is it possible to obtain the time averaged values at fixed locations in sliding mesh problems? The time average provided by data sampling (Solve-->Iterate-->Data-sampling for time statistics) option is simply the average value for a cell. If a cell zone is moving in a sliding mesh zone, the cell position will get updated accordingly. Hence, it is similar to a probe moving along with the cells. To keep the probe position fixed independent of the cell motion, the point surface should be created. Use the following steps to obtain time-averaging information at a fixed point in a sliding mesh zone: 1. Use TUI "/surface/point-surface ...." to create a point surface. The coordinates of the point surface are fixed in the absolute frame, and will not change with moving mesh. 2. Use Solve --> Monitor --> Surface panel to write the information, such as, velocity of the above points to a file. 3. Calculate the time average value from the monitor file written in the previous step using excel or any other third party software. |
