POLYDATA - after reading/converting a GAMBIT neutral file: Microsoft error message: "polydata.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close".

When directly reading in a Gambit Neutral file in POLYDATA via the option "Read a mesh file", POLYDATA crashes and a Microsoft error message is generated: "polydata.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" once the user gives a filename for the converted mesh file. But, it still creates the file and you can then reopen Polydata and open the file.
This trouble has been reported for Windows O.S. Despite the error message, POLYDATA generates the converted mesh file which can be read in a subsequent session. A cleaner workaround consists of selecting the option "Convert a mesh file", and to choose "Convert a GAMBIT neutral file". POLYDATA asks the filename of the converted mesh. Upon conversion, the created mesh file can be read within the same session. |
