Q. Can you give me some information about CFX-Flo.

A. CFX-Flo is a promotion undertaken by ANSYS at version 8.1 to help customers migrate from FLOTRAN to CFX. Customers request CFX-Flo through the customer portal.

It consists of the basic version of CFX known as BCS along with CFX-Pre and CFX-Post. One task at a time is allowed, and it will use the FLOTRAN license key.

CFX-BCS capabilities, mirror those of FLOTRAN, with the following exceptions: free surface and surface-to-surface radiation are not supported, and CFX does not have 2D capability.

Users can develop models in ANSYS Prep7 and write a CDB file that CFX will read. Boundary condition surfaces are identified by making named components of 2D elements in PREP7. CFX-Pre, where the user will apply boundary conditions, will recognize these surfaces from the CDB file.

Training material including an example will be down-loadable from the Customer Portal.
