User tries to start ANSYS 8.1 and receives the following error:
'Error in start up script'
'can't find package Itcl while executing
"package require Itcl"

What is causing this error?

If the user has TCL_LIBRARY and TK_LIBRARY set to a third party software, this error will occur. After removing these, the user will be able to bring up the launcher. ANSYS does not rely on these environment variables being set (and neither should other software vendors) but if they are set then we use them. If another software product requires that they be set, the user can create a batch file to unset them when running ansys. |
