User is trying to run Ansys8.1 on the dual Itanium system, running RedHat Linux Enterprise 3.0, and receives the following error message:

/ansys_inc/v81/ansys/bin/linuxia64/ansys.e81: relocation error: /ansys_inc/v81/ansys/syslib/linuxia64/libpthread.so.0: symbol _errno, version GLIBC_2.2 not defined in file libc.so.6.1 with link time reference

What is causing this error?

In order for ANSYS to possibly work with this machine and OS level, the user must set:

setenv LD_ASSUME_KERNEL 2.4.19

(it can be added in the ansys81 script to be transparent to the user)

The /lib/libpthread.so.0 must be copied to /ansys_inc/v81/ansys/syslib/linuxia64 and overwrite the copy that is already there.

NOTE: We can not guarantee that Ansys will run since you have to replace the ANSYS thread libraries with the system thread library.
Since we don't have this type of machine here, we cannot test and certify ANSYS on it. WE DO NOT SUPPORT THIS OS.
