Why am I getting an error message about a convection surface
referencing an undefined material property? I am switching from a
temperature dependent film coefficient in load step 1 to a constant
value in load step 2 in ANSYS 9.0.

The program is improperly ramping the film coefficient from the negative integer used as a pointer in load step 1 to the numerical value specified in load step 2. The interpolated value is initially negative resulting in the error message. This error is fixed in 10.0. (The numerical value in load step 2 will be step applied.) [Class 3 No. 30446] A workaround is to use the thermal capabilities in solid5, plane13 or solid98, which do not have this error. With these elements ANSYS will ramp from the temperature dependent value in load step 1 to the constant value in load step 2. |
