KNOWN ISSUE: Forces transferred to ANSYS in an MFX calculation are wrong if "solve fluids = f" (Class 3 Error)

SYMPTOM: The forces transferred to ANSYS in an MFX calculation are wrong if the expert parameter "solve fluids = f" is set (to turn off the solution of the mass and momentum equations). PROBLEM: When "solve fluids = f" is set, the momentum flow data normally used as the basis of the forces sent to the ANSYS solver is not available, and instead a pressure*area calculation is performed. This calculation was being performed incorrectly. WORKAROUND: Don't use the expert parameter "solve fluids = f". FIXED IN: ANSYS CFX Release 12.1. A custom executable for ANSYS CFX Release 12.0 is available on request. |
