The trace button allows users to import trace data onto a block to create a more detailed representation of a board. The data is most easily imported as Cadence Allegro files, but general Gerber files can also be imported and Icepak .bool files (created from Cadence or Gerber) can be imported on another identical block. In turn, the block will act as though there are physical traces inside without having to mesh the trace wires individually (effective conductivity by regions in the board).
There are also options to convert the traces individually to solid polyblocks and add Joule heating to the solid traces under this option.
