"Invalid license file: The FLEXlm ID in the file does not match the system, FLEXlm ID"

Problem Description: After upgrading from ANSYS 12.1 to ANSYS 13.0 License Manager and when using an existing license file you get an error:

"Invalid license file: The FLEXlm ID in the file does not match the system, FLEXlm ID".

Resolution:

With ANSYS 13.0, the License Wizard ignores FLEXid addresses associated with Virtual Network Adapter cards. If your existing license file was created using a Virtual Network Adaptor IP address you will need to skip over the step to install the license file. The License Wizard will prompt you:

When available, you may use the <Skip> button to skip the current step.

Choose <Continue> to begin...

Step 1: Install the license file.
NOTE: A valid license file already exists on this system.

Choose <Continue> to install a new license file..

If you have been running ANSYS 12.1 on this license server computer, click the Skip button to proceed without changing the license file. The License Wizard will proceed using your existing license file.

When you are prompted:

Step 2: Automatically specify the local machine as the license server
(i.e., update the ansyslmd.ini file).

You may also click the Skip button if this computer has already been specified as the license server.

When you are prompted:

Step 3: Start the ANSYS, Inc. License Manager:

Click the Continue button to start the ANSYS 13.0 license manager. The license manager should start and at that point you can Exit the License Wizard. ANSYS products will now run using your existing license file.
