Reynolds stress model with realizability based epsilon equation


When highly separated and vortical flow is considered, the eddy viscosity models, i.e., general one and two equation models, fail to predict the outstanding flow features correctly, partly due to the isotropic assumption and to excessive production of turbulence.

For this type of flow, it is observed that the RSM with realizability based epsilon equation performs well (AIAA Paper 2003-0429). To turn on the option, the following lines need to be typed in the Cortex window
