Calculation fails with "fix" option enabled for a velocity component - a workaround
The "fix" option in the Fluid BC panel permits you to fix a solution variable in a fluid zone. In some cases, if a velocity component is fixed, the pressure correction equation will fail, reporting "divergence detected in AMG solver". Here is a simple fix. I have found that if you fix *** all three velocity components *** rather than just one, the solution will behave much better. For example, if you want to fix the x velocity to 3 m/s, also fix the y and z velocities (to zero). Note that it is not required that you fix all three velocity components, and that fixing only one may work in certain cases. |
